Q: Can we have a campfire at the property?

A: If specifically noted on your guest instructions, campfires may be allow but only in existing fire-rings and only in cooler months when there is no pollution advisory in effect.

Telephone our office before proceeding. Use only provided or purchased firewood. Keep fires no higher than 24 inches and have a water source nearby before starting. Fires must be extinguished no later than 10PM.

In addition,. Campfires are never allowed in summer due to concerns about forest fires, range fires or house fires.

Q: What is the maximum trip length I can insure?

A: 180 days.

Q: Tell me about Sunspot Vacation Rentals?

A: Sunspots is a network of trained and certified Vacation Rental management companies working together to grow and improve the industry and their own operations. Vacation Homes may be located in every communities including lake, mountain and river locations and even in urban and suburban communities. Each company is individually operated and strives to offer industry best practices for Guests and Property Owners. Services are provide by the Vortex Organization.

Q: What is Plumbob Publishing?

A: A plumbob is an old fashioned tool used by carpenters to determine straight up and down. It is a string and a weight which, when allowed to dangle free always reflects a straight line downward. Our company has chosen the word Plumbob to represent our quest to produce straight forward and accurate publications. Some of these are conventional print and other media. And some are websites in a variety of specialty industries and narrow interests. This website is just one.

Property Owner FAQ's

Q: Can I take my own bookings without paying you?

A: That depends which of our programs you are enrolled in. Our full service program authorizes us to handle all bookings, but owners are welcome to advertise and send guest leads to us. Some programs are non-exclusive.so owners can take their own bookings without our help for which there is no commission.

Q: When do I get paid for rentals?

A: Rentals are audited and accounted for each month. The growth of online travel agencies slows down accounting but increases owner profit. We start firs of the month and get payments out about mid-month.

Q: Can Owners earn a referral fee?

A: Yes, Owners can earn a finder fee on rentals they refer for their properties. It is also payable if that owner refers in Guests who book most other properties (Not all participate). To qualify, it is necessary for the Owner to telephone in the Guest's name and information - before the Guest does so.

Q: Will a Vacation Rental Insurance plan refund my booking fees?

A: Yes. You can insure any service fees charged up front and invoiced by your reservation company. The costs will be reimbursed if your trip is canceled for a covered reason.

Q: Are you pet friendly?

A: Yes and no. Some of our rentals allow one or two dogs. But cats, pigs, birdies, iguanas, insects, snakes, elephants, zebras and any non-dog animals are not allowed. The number of dogs is limited as is their size. There is usually a fee per dog per night. You must ask permission at the time of booking.

Q: Can we bring a trailer or camper to the property?

A: Unless otherwise specified in your booking confirmation, properties do not allow trailers or campers due to concerns with occupancy and neighbors.

Q: What should I do if I have to cancel my trip?

A: First, you should notify your vacation rental company. Then call your insurer to request a claim form.

Q: Why choose a Vacation Rental over a hotel?

A: Because it all adds up. You get more space for your family and friends, more rooms, a kitchen, privacy, easier parking and a lower cost per Guest. Why stay in a dinky little 300 square foot hotel room when you can have a much much larger home?

Q: So what are Vacation Rentals?

A: That's an easy one. Any lodging unit that has a full kitchen & bath, is fully outfitted with linens and towels and usually detached bedrooms is a Vacation Rental Home. These may be apartments, cabins, condos, chalets, houses or villas. In some countries they are called Holiday-lets, Holiday homes, Holiday Villas or Gites (France.)
